What happens to your report?
Once your safety concern has been taken, the report will be sent to a representative
within the relevant company (or companies) for a response. The reports we send on
do not contain any identifying information.
Company responses are reviewed and then fed back to the reporter. This process usually takes around eight weeks, and you can phone
CIRAS to see how your report is progressing. We publish a selection of the reports
and responses we receive in our bi-monthly newsletter, The Reporter which
is available
here
Reports and responses are entered into the CIRAS national database for analysis.
This information is used, alongside other safety performance data, to identify trends
in safety and help companies target resources to address problems.
All information sent to CIRAS is stored on secured premises. Access to the CIRAS
office is strictly controlled and all confidential information is accessible only
by the CIRAS team. The CIRAS database is stored on a removable hard drive, kept
in a safe on site.
