Why can't CIRAS provide more details in their reports?

CIRAS aims to provide as much information as it can to help you investigate the health and safety concerns raised in a report. However, sometimes details have to be removed in order to protect the identity of the reporter. This can include removing details of locations, times and specific incidents, if there is reasonable concern that the reporter might be identified from such information.

Under such circumstances we understand that it can be difficult to fully investigate and respond to a CIRAS report however it still provides an opportunity for you to communicate with the reporter to reassure and encourage them to report their concerns internal internally so the matter can be fully resolved. If you would like more information or support in dealing with such reports please contact your CIRAS researcher for advice.

Who sees the company responses?

The company responses are seen by CIRAS and the CIRAS Committee.
Sector reports, are also published every two months. These are divided into LUL and contractors, NR and contractors, TOCs and FOCs. They each contain all the reports and company responses received for that sector, the exception being, if the reporter themselves, or the company responding, have withdrawn permission for publication.

The sector reports are sent to all CIRAS reps. If you are not currently receiving the sector reports and would like to please contact Chris Langer on 0203 142 5363.  A selection of reports and company responses are also published in The Reporter.

CIRAS may also provide a company response, in order to provide information as part of its data request service.  For more information please see the following question.

I would like to provide feedback to CIRAS on their service. How can I do this?

We welcome your views and suggestions and there are may ways in which you can you can share them with us.

• We send out an evaluation form with every report we send. Each evaluation form is considered and used to tailor our procedures to make them more user friendly. The more we receive the more we can improve our service, please keep sending them in.
• You can also call or email CIRAS with your views. You might like to speak to your designated CIRAS researcher or if you prefer, you can contact the Stakeholder Engagement Manager. Please see About CIRAS for contact details.
• Share your views in person. Come along to the CIRAS reps meetings which are held twice a year.
