A reporter is asking for clarification on the maximum number of consecutive days that can be worked whilst working on London Underground. The reporter is aware that some contractors are rostering their staff to work up to 14 consecutive days with no rest days rostered in.

A reporter is concerned about proposed new working practices at CBS Outdoor which involve combining two previously separate day and night shifts into a single shift. It is felt that the combined shifts and physically demanding bill posting work at London Underground stations will increase fatigue levels and possibly lead to more incidents on platforms and ladders.

A reporter has contacted CIRAS regarding Rentokil-Initial staff not being allocated breaks at Hammersmith depot. According to the Working Time Directive (2003), staff should receive a 20 minute rest break for every six hours worked. However, the reporter comments that this is not happening and staff are working up to eight hour shifts without a break.
