Topic: The behavioural nature of safety voice

At our July event, Building a speak up culture, CIRAS members explored why staff don't always speak up about their health and safety concerns, and what to do about it. We touched on the groundbreaking research of Dr Mark Noort, assistant professor at Leiden University and visiting lecturer in psychology and behavioural science at the London School of Economics, who found that only one in two people speak up about their concerns and there are over 30 factors that can prevent them from doing so.

In September, Mark joined us for a conversation hosted by director of CIRAS Catherine Baker to mark our 25th anniversary. He talked in more depth about his research and answered questions about how the findings can be applied in practice.
