Here's what people told us about when they reported health and safety issues to CIRAS. Are these issues on your mind? How is the reporting culture in your workplace?
This data is from April 2021 to March 2022. We collect it by asking you questions when we speak to you about your concern. You can raise your concerns with us in different ways.
Infrastructure includes roads, the railway and transport hubs such as stations. A focus on access points and walking routes reflects growth in the number of reports related to trespass.
Many of the reports involving concerns about the working environment focused on hygiene issues. In 2021/22, a higher proportion of CIRAS reports involving the working environment mentioned assault than in the previous two years (24% 2021/22; 11% 2020/21; 17% 2019/20).
Why didn’t reporters use internal channels?
These are percentages of the number of reporters who had not reported internally before coming to CIRAS with their concern.
Third-party reporting
This shows how many concerns raised with CIRAS were for the reporter’s employer and how many were for a company that isn’t their employer (known as ‘third-party reporting’). You can raise concerns with us for any company – for example, the site owner or a contractor you work with – not just for your employer.
