A small flurry of reports from the freight sector has helped push train crew as a share of reporters to more than 40%.
Health and wellbeing has maintained its position in first place. However, during period 5 this was not driven by weather-related concerns, but instead poor working conditions. For example, exposure to silica dust, or messroom facilities that were exposing staff to sewage smells.
Our data shows that CIRAS is increasingly being used to report faults. This ranges from small handheld equipment like radios, to larger infrastructure such as faulty OFF indicators. Possible explanations could come from the number of concerns raised for another company (see the graph showing all reasons for coming to CIRAS) and the perception that internal channels take too long to provide a response.
