Encouraging health and safety reporting – it matters

CIRAS is working to reassure frontline workers that it’s as important now as it’s ever been to speak up.  There’s still space in our open webinar for frontline staff on 16 September from 12:30 to 13:15.  Attendees will hear why health, safety and wellbeing reporting is so important, and why they should come forward with their concerns – internally if they can, or via CIRAS if they prefer a confidential route. Please share this link with your frontline colleagues and encourage them to come along:

Rep webinar: Stress, fear and anxiety – managing mental health in the workplace

Join the CIRAS team and your fellow members on 22 October for the next in our series of reps’ learning webinars. The topic this time is managing people’s fears around Covid-19, and how members are supporting their staff to deal with the stress and anxiety associated with the pandemic and its aftermath. As always, we invite you (and any colleagues who you think would be interested) to come along willing to share your own experiences, and hopefully to take away some ideas for how you can do things differently in your own organisations)If you’re thinking of joining us, here’s some questions to think about:

  • What are you doing to support your staff during this unprecedented time?
  • What challenges have you faced -and how have you overcome them?
  • What’s working for you?
  • What do you need help with?

Watch out for the invitation in your inbox soon – and if there are other topics you’d like us to cover in our learning webinar series, please let us know at editor@ciras.org.uk

We’re inviting ourselves to join you

It’s important to us to keep in touch with our members – we want to help you get the most out of your membership even in these challenging times. That’s why our stakeholder managers are offering to join you virtually. Whether it’s a slot at your health and safety team meeting or joint safety committee, or an online session with your frontline workers, we can join you to understand your current health and safety challenges better, and help raise awareness of CIRAS and the role we can play in your health and safety system. If you’re interested in finding out more, please complete the short contact form at this link and your stakeholder manager will be in touch with you.

Toilet stickers!

We’ve had feedback from some of our members that they want to make it as easy as possible for their workers to approach CIRAS in complete confidence. This means being able to locate and take down details of how to contact CIRAS without being observed by colleagues. So, we are considering developing a sticker which can be placed in toilet cubicles.  We’re interested to know if this would be useful for you – please let us know what you think at editor@ciras.org.uk.
