Event for your diary: Tackling workplace abuse
The next of our series of rep learning webinars is going to look at the issue of workplace abuse. Sadly, many transport workers face abusive behaviour in their daily working lives, and it can have a terrible effect on their physical and mental health. During the pandemic, some CIRAS members have reported that it’s getting worse. So, join your fellow members to share ideas on what can be done to address the issue and improve colleagues’ wellbeing.  We’ll be sending you an invite shortly so watch this space.

Spotlight on new member
We’re happy to be welcoming Metrolink as our newest light-rail member. Every new member brings their own insight and experience to share with the CIRAS community, helping us all work together to make the sector safer for passengers and workers alike. Metrolink has launched the CIRAS service to all its staff this month. We look forward to working with them.

Why reporting matters – new video resource
As it remains a challenge for many of our members to run face-to-face briefings and safety stand downs, we’ve developed a new short video talking about why health and safety reporting matters so much, how to go about it, and where CIRAS fits in. It’s a resource for our members to use to encourage their staff to raise concerns, using whatever channel works best for them. Please feel free to use it in your staff inductions and online safety briefings and share across your internal communications channels. View the video online.

Member renewal update
A big thank you if you have already renewed your CIRAS membership for 2021/22 – we look forward to working with you over the next year. If you have not had chance to renew yet – please make sure that you pay before the end of March, if you wish to continue your membership.

Are you a Sentinel scheme member?
If you’re required to subscribe to a confidential reporting service, you must complete the renewal process by 31 March 2021. If your membership certificate is not uploaded to RISQS by then, we’ve been advised that this could disrupt your ability to sponsor staff. If you have any questions about the renewals process contact Ciras.Finance@ciras.org.uk

Member portal outage w/c 29 March 2021
At the end of March, we’ll be issue new portal login details for those of you who have renewed your membership for 2021/22. We’ll send your new logins after 1 April 2021. We need to suspend access to the members’ portal for a few days during w/c 29 March for essential maintenance. We hope this won’t cause too much inconvenience, and if you need anything from the portal while it’s suspended just contact us on enquires@ciras.org.uk.
