There’s still time to sign up to our learning webinar for CIRAS members about tackling workplace abuse, on Wednesday 28 April, 11:30-12:30.
Imagine going to work and suffering abuse from the very people you are trying to help – being sworn at, or worse still, being physically attacked. For many people, this is a reality.
Every day, workers in the transport industry are threatened, abused and assaulted by customers and members of the public.
Some members tell us it’s getting worse, as the pandemic increases people’s anger, with some individuals acting up and taking out their frustrations on those around them.
These types of incidents are extremely distressing for those who are abused and who witness the abuse. They can also cause long-term mental health problems, sickness absence and loss of revenue.
Join the CIRAS team and our guest speakers Willie Hamilton, general manager at Lothian Buses, and Jack Hussey, senior health and safety manager at ABM Facilities, who will be sharing their experiences at the event.
You will also be able to share your own experiences and initiatives to tackle workplace abuse, and learn from what fellow members are doing to protect and support workers.
